Houston. There are a hundred thousand and 1 things I love about this city, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is at the top of my list. We’re quite the metropolitan city with our port, major interstate highways and large international airport; but we’re also blessed to be part of one of the greatest states in the Union – TEXAS! Which is why the HLSR is a sweet taste of both country and cosmo.
No matter how urban or small town you are, if you live just north of Mexico, next to Louisiana and right below Oklahoma and don’t own at least one pair of western boots – you can’t call yourself Texan. We’re serious about our state pride here! But that doesn’t say you should be a total poser and go all out rustic if your style usually pulls on the edgy/chic/glamorous side (a.k.a high maintenance – I’m not afraid of calling myself out.)
I take pride in a nice pair of western boots, but I can’t go all provincial! I have to add just a touch of Glam
Shoulder bearing tops, dresses and rompers were in abundance in regards to the HLSR fair grounds street style. And I can see why since they’re so darn cute with cowgirl boots! These Bauble Bar for Target earrings were the perfect touch to an off-the-shoulder look as they bring attention to the neckline, while giving this look a twist of glam for the Rodeo. I work out often to ward off possibly inevitable saddle bags, but this cross-body with a tassle helped complete this “Rodeo” look. And these tea rose colored jeans will be in steady rotation for my spring wardrobe!
