I feel like Independence Day is the pinnacle holiday of the summer. You see, Memorial Day kick starts the summer season at the end of May; and Labor Day concludes the festivities at the start of September… and in between it all is the very fun and patriotic themed 4th of July!!

Which.. have you ever gotten sort of tongue tied trying to wish someone a good holiday? “Have a good fourth of Indpenden… er… grool.”

Either way, as a kid, I didn’t particularly like the 4th of July – it was hot, no one got presents, and I didn’t like the color scheme… it’s not very flattering for my skin tone. But now that I’m older, when you are given a reason to celebrate and get a day off – you sure as hell get excited about it & find some trendy, chic ways to wear that red, white and blue, stars and stripes and anything and everything else that will make you look patriotic AF!

Easiest way – simply incorporate the colors, Red, White and Blue into your accessories. Meaning busting out a pretty red nail polish like Ruby Ruby by Sinful Colors (even better – it’s a steal at $1.99!) or Blanc by Essie like pictured above. Or even easier is popping on a bright, ruby red lipstick. I really feel like a red lipstick not only looks classic, but reminds me of Old Hollywood Glamour, which guys – Hollywood is SO Americana! Try this one by Anastasia Beverly Hills – American Doll. With the reflective lens trend still sticking around, a bright blue reflective lens like these by Quay  (similar ones linked) can complete your All American Girl look.

Next, hop on over to Old Navy or Target. GUARANTEED to find some nationalistic threads.

Hat from Old Navy, swimsuit top – reversible, by the way!! – from Target. Bought an oversized men’s cotton button up from a thrift store for $3 as a cover up. God Bless America!

If being over the top patriotic is not your thing, opt for the following things :

  • red stripes
  • blue stripes
  • red accents
  • blue accents
  • white accents
  • denim
  • white sneakers
  • nude, beige or even gold shoes, bags, jewelry, belts, etc

Earrings – Free People | Top – Zara | Skirt – Gap | Bag – Amazon Fashion | Shoes – Target

Dress – Stitch Fix | Bag – Amazon Fashion | Shoes – Steve Madden

I can’t wait to party like it’s 1776! Hope everyone has a safe and happy Independence Day!

I think this year’s Independence Day is different than year’s past… considering the state of political affairs, people are taking the time to consider what it means to be an American. Regardless of what everyone is hung up on, Independence Day always brings back a small tinge of patriotism that momentarily brings us all back together.

And it gives us a damn good reason to celebrate!

I love nothing more than a good reason to dress up (I mean, a better reason than that it’s a Tuesday), and I love it especially more when I’m already given a color palette to work with!

I’m obsessed with wearing overalls as a swim suit cover up. It’s a great way to show off your suit a little while remaining somewhat modest especially if your one piece is guising itself as a bodysuit! ‘Cause you gotta keep it classy. I’m also obsessed with this red swimsuit from Asos – it makes me feel so Baywatch – which is a GREAT American show. Making it super patriotic. (lollzzzz)

Something about pin up beauty makes me think classic American. It’s vintage, chic and flirty. In a previous post, you learned how much I love pairing sneakers with anything – and one of my favorite pairings for sneakers is a flirty skater dress like this one from Forever 21 [similar one here). Add a red paisley bandana, a classic red lip and vintage inspired sunglasses (like these from Quay Australia) for your Americana look.

Lucky for us, our “red-white-&-blue” is the same color scheme for the uber classic & chic nautical look. And this navy blue  jumpsuit is classy AF! I’d never had any luck with this style before, but I’m LOVING this one. I definitely recommend a belt to enhance the shape of the suit. Add a red lip & red clutch and you’re good to go. Oh – by the way, did you notice how easy it is to dress this jumpsuit up or down depending on the shoe choice? (I LIVE for a versatile clothing piece!) This is definitely helpful as this was the first time wearing heels since my knee freaked out on me and I don’t know how I felt about it.

What are you wearing to your Fourth of July festivities? Dressing up or dressing down? I plan on dressing down in shorts & sneakers to watch fireworks with my niece 🙂
