Pinks and Purple Fleurs for Spring

Happy March! Kali Sarakosti!

Took a drive down Kirby Drive the other day on the way to the Rodeo, and all the lawns along the way were completely in bloom! Pinks, whites, purple. Lent has started, the sun sets later… Spring is here!

I actually did these looks for Valentine’s Day, but when you think about it, the color scheme associated with that holiday are popular amongst floral choices. Pinks roses, purple violets, just like the flower tour down Kirby!

Last week, the weather dipped into the 30’s and the next couple of days will be only up to the 50’s, not uncommon, but definitely not the norm for this time of year. I love those late spring cool fronts, gives me one last chance to wear a darkish lip and actually feel the color goes with the weather. Not to mention the dark clouds, ayee… I’m ready for some sun!

This next look was so fun to do because it reminds me of my MAC days – fierce, fun & bossy. I decided to do a wing and add a pop of fun pink on the lips, an oldie but a goodie. It said Valentine’s Day, but also, “Hey Spring, where ya at though?”

BAEgas 2017

What comes to mind when you think of Vegas – alcohol, partying, casinos strippers, no sleep, buffets, scandalous shows. Now think of doing all of this with your parents.

Since I was a kid, my mom & dad loved going to Vegas. They’d take off on a Friday evening after work and red-eye it back in on Monday morning. They aren’t big drinkers, but they love the city. I on the other hand would rather spend that kind of money on a trip elsewhere (preferably put that money towards somewhere international) but it’s nice that it’s a 4 hour plane ride from Houston and has ANYthing that tickles your fancy (or other things if you’re freaky – hey, it’s Vegas!)

Back at Christmas time, all my mom said she wanted was a family trip to Vegas for her birthday. All her kids are now over 21 and she’s ready to party with us. (TOTES kidding) So we started planning. Last time I went, was summer ’14; being in the desert, I felt like I was baking during the day. While it was still fun, the weather was very unpleasant, so I was looking forward to a Spring Break trip there this time to enjoy the light heat during the day and coolness at night.

I kept things as simple as possible since I was only taking a small carry on. Dresses and a pair of overalls, statement kicks and minimal makeup.

That first day was a doozey! Bae and I headed in early Friday morning to meet my sister and my cunado for brunch at Wicked Spoon, 6 bottles of champagne between the 4 of us and two 32 oz mojitos later, no pictures were taken (thank God!).

Day 2 was much better. I hydrated before bed, so I didn’t wake up with a hangover. But was I 100% Gucci? No. But nothing that a walk along the strip and some drinks couldn’t fix.

Current fave bag for traveling!

Out of the handful times of visiting Vegas, I had never been to one of the shows. Next time you visit Sin City – check out La Reve at the Wynn. It was an amazing production. And a great reason to dress up and debut one of my favorite spring trends – embroidered heels. And we all know how walking in Vegas can be, but these were surprisingly comfortable to walk in. (still doesn’t mean I didn’t get a GNARLY blister on my big toe)

Here’s to keeping it classy in Vegas… this time.

Sweet Springtime

Xristos Anesti, my friends!!!

You know you’re Greek when it takes you a few days to recover and get back to normal after Easter. And even though this Easter was low key considering the Western & Orthodox liturgical calendars synced up this year, it still took me a full week to rest up. Okay, actually I’m using that as an excuse for not being more on my game. (I’m mature enough to call myself out).

Lips : Kat Von D Backstage Bambi + Anastasia Beverly Hills Party Pink || Necklace : Bauble Bar || Dress : Closet London

I typically prefer Autumn/Winter to Spring/Summer; the weather is good to my hair, makeup, and allergies. But I can enjoy the way that the warm weather and sunshine make me feel, the blooming plants and sense of life and rejuvenation that the season brings. It also helps that I’m obsessed with florals, and this time of year gives me the best excuse to bring out my brightest, most blooming options.

Shoes : Guess

Wearing bright statement pieces help me keep the sunshine on April Shower days

Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter are all perfect reasons to dig out the brights from storage and start adding your spring pieces to slay an outfit.

Princess Vibes

I love this dress from Closet London – the perfect timeless, flirty, classy LBD. Usually when a dress comes with a belt, I toss it. They’re typically cheap looking and I can find much better alternatives. But will you check out how cute this one is?

Did I mention this dress comes with pockets?!

With the simplicity of the LBD, I wanted to keep this look simple as well using strategically placed bursts of color with the shoes, the statement necklace and the bright pink lips. So I had the same idea with the makeup for this look.

Face : Urban Decay Naked Foundation 7.5
Concealer : Maybelline Age Rewind in Neutralizer
Contour : ABH Stick Foundation in Mink; Kat Von D Shade + Light Palette
Powders : Laura Mercier Brightening for under eye || Laura Mercier Transluscent
Blush : (subtle) Sephora Collection No. 5

Brows : ABD Dipbrow
Shadows : Makeup Geek Mango Tango & Cocoa Bear in the crease; Bitten to deepen; Coloured Raine shadows in Who, Me? + Champagne Life on the lid; Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma + MUFE D862 in inner corner; ABH Pro Pencil in Base 1 in water line; Bitten blended out with Cocoa Bear smudged under the eye
